6-Day Explorer Kenya Safari

Duration 6 Days
From $1,395 per person

If you’ve ever wondered what Africa really feels like- not the postcard version, but the real thing- this is where you find out.

This 6-day explorer Kenya safari is purpose-built for first-timers, combining Kenya’s three most spectacular parks in perfect sequence: the world-renowned Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru’s flamingo-fringed sanctuary, and Amboseli’s elephant kingdoms beneath Kilimanjaro. It’s the safari that covers everything you came to Africa to see, without overwhelming you with too many destinations or exhausting travel days.

This is your first time safari Kenya moment — designed to give you the complete East African experience while leaving you energized, not exhausted. Three full nights in the Masai Mara ensure you have time to witness the Great Migration river crossings (July-October), track all members of the Big Five safari Kenya roster — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo — and truly settle into the rhythm of the bush. Lake Nakuru delivers rhino encounters and millions of flamingos painting the shores pink. Amboseli offers the ultimate photographer’s dream: elephants silhouetted against Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit.

The best time to see the Great Migration in the Masai Mara is July through October, when over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras cross the crocodile-infested Mara River in one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles. But this safari delivers extraordinary wildlife encounters year-round — the Mara’s resident populations alone guarantee exceptional game viewing even outside migration season.

  • Game drives in Amboseli, with Mount Kilimanjaro as a constant backdrop
  • Rhino tracking in Lake Nakuru National Park, home to both black and white rhino
  • Big Five sightings across multiple ecosystems: savannah, lake, and rift valley floor
  • Expert local guides with deep knowledge of animal behaviour and tracking
  • Private 4x4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof, dedicated to your group throughout

The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Day by Day

Your African adventure begins with a morning departure from Nairobi, driving southwest through the Great Rift Valley toward the legendary Masai Mara. The 5-6 hour journey crosses vast Maasai pastoralist lands where red-robed warriors tend their cattle beneath endless skies.

Arrive at your camp for lunch, then head straight out for your first game drive. The Mara delivers immediately: herds of zebra and wildebeest stretching to the horizon, giraffes browsing acacia tops, and lions watching from the grass. Visit the Mara River where crocodiles lurk, and hippos wallow in their hundreds. Return to camp as the African sunset paints the plains copper and rose.
