Luxury Kenya Safari

Duration 6 days
From $2,727 per person

Some journeys are measured in miles. This one is measured in moments: the first sight of Kilimanjaro breaking through the morning haze above Amboseli, the hush of a boat gliding across Lake Naivasha at golden hour, the particular quiet of the Maasai Mara just before a pride of lions decides to move.

This 6-day luxury Kenya safari was designed for travellers who want to experience the country’s most celebrated landscapes without ever feeling rushed between them. You begin in Amboseli, home to some of Africa’s last great tuskers and a backdrop that needs no embellishment. From there, the road descends into the Great Rift Valley itself, pausing at Lake Naivasha for an unhurried afternoon among giraffe and flamingo, before delivering you into the Maasai Mara, where the plains stretch further than the eye can settle and the wildlife obliges accordingly.

Every detail, from your private guide to your evenings by the fire, has been considered with the same quiet attention you’d expect of any journey worth taking. This is not a checklist safari. It is Kenya, properly introduced.

  • Face to face with Amboseli's great elephant herds, Kilimanjaro standing watch above
  • A private boat safari across Lake Naivasha to the wildlife sanctuary of Crescent Island
  • Two full days in the Maasai Mara, Kenya's finest stage for the Big Five
  • A privately guided journey throughout, tailored to your pace, not a bus schedule

Who will love this safari?

This itinerary is built for first-time visitors to Kenya who want the country's signature experiences, elephants, the Rift Valley, the Mara's big cats, without a single day feeling wasted in transit. It suits couples marking an occasion, families travelling with older children, and seasoned travellers who have simply never made it to the Mara before now. If your idea of luxury is a well-timed game drive followed by a properly poured gin and tonic at last light, you will feel at home here.

Kenya rewards visitors nearly any time of year, but this itinerary is at its best during the dry seasons. June through October delivers the Maasai Mara's peak wildlife concentrations and the clearest Kilimanjaro views over Amboseli, while January to March offers a quieter, equally rewarding alternative with fewer vehicles at the same sightings. The rains of April, May and November soften the landscape into a deep, photogenic green and thin the crowds considerably, a genuine option for travellers

Day by Day

Your luxury Kenya safari begins the moment you step off the aircraft at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where your private guide is waiting, not a placard in a crowd, but someone who already knows your name and your itinerary by heart. The drive south trades the city for the wide, ochre plains of the Maasai, and by afternoon you are settling into lunch at Amboseli National Park, one of East Africa’s most storied wildlife reserves. Your first game drive follows almost immediately, and Amboseli rarely keeps its guests waiting. Some of the largest elephant herds left in Africa move across these swamps and dry plains with Mount Kilimanjaro rising, snow-capped, above them, a sight that photographs never quite prepare you for. Lion, buffalo and antelope share the same water pans, and the birdlife alone could occupy an afternoon. It is, by any measure, an extraordinary first chapter.
